A Bollywood Musical to be staged at Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, Koramangala

A Bengaluru-based thirty member team, is all set to present a live theatrical experience, Phir Bhi Dil Hain Hindusthani. Presented by Jhanka Beatz, the performance will be a compilation of live action, drama, songs and dance numbers. The entry to this event is free and it will unravel on stage today, October 17, at 9:30 pm, at Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, Koramangala.

This year’s puja will be a musical extravaganza

Sarathi Socio-Cultural Trust will host their Durga Puja this year at Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, Koramangala 5th block. The puja will include offering of bhog , pushpanjali , sandhi puja, and homa.

This year’s puja will be a musical extravaganza. On October 15, there will be Sarathi choir performance, a perforamnce by Kohal band, and a musical night by Adriza. On October 16, there will be a ‘battle of the bands’ titled ‘Bandemonium’, a dance show Ronggon , and Bollywood night by Raj Barman. On October 17, ‘Bandemonium’ will be held again. There will also be a performance by Digonto Rekha, and a Bollywood musical, ‘Jhankar Beatz’. On October 18, there will be a musical night by Anupam Roy and a Bollywood night.

Sarathi socio-cultural trust likes to open its Durga puja party, featuring a classic Kumartuli idol, with a bang. Every year, on Panchami, they gather Dhaki players from around the city and have them perform together. The tradition will continue at Sammad 2018 too. If you love music as they do, don’t miss the Bandemonium on Saptami and Ashtami. It’s a battle of 12 music bands selected from all over Karnataka. They will play all genres except hard rock. Then on the roster is Sarathi choir, bands Digonto Rekha, and Kohal Junior, and singers Adriza Chakraborty, Anupam Roy, and viral Youtube musician Raj Barman. Jhankar Beatz, a Bollywood musical, is not to be missed as well.

Maitree Bandhaan organized Senco Sharod Samman Award 2018 in Bangalore

Sarathi Socio-Cultural Trust of Koramangala won the Best Crowd Management Award 2018. The total footfall was more 3, 00,000 people and more than 80 volunteers were deployed along with local police and traffic management for smooth traffic movement and crowd management. Whitefield Cultural Association (WCA) won the 2nd prize in Best Crowd Management Award. The total footfall was more than 2, 00,000 and more than 75 volunteers deployed for the crowd management. Jhankar Beatz, a Bangalore based dance group presented ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hain Hindustani’ a live Bollywood Musical during Dugotsav in Koramangala,

Mangala Kalyana Mantapa. On the eighth day of Durga Puja Festival in Bangalore, the performance by Jhankar Beatz was woven with live action, drama, music and dance. The dance group captured the sentiments of India’s heart, its culture, diversity, its democracy and social issues. The group’s live musical performance was presented by 30+ members` team during Durgotsav. This year’s theme was presented with fourteen live Dance performances based on Indian’s deep rooted problems like corruption, poverty and female Infanticide. In the midst of so many problems in the country, the musical story brought hope for a better India through its patriotic adaptation. Speaking on the occasion, Sulagna Chaudhury, Founder and Choreographer of Jhankar Beatz, said, "It’s an extremely delightful moment for us as this was our 11th performance during Durga Puja Festival and we strive our best to bring interesting stories which will inspire large group of people to make a better India. Through culture and entertainment, we want to bring hope and unity for the people of this country”

The Pujo will be held at Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, 6th Block. Sudipto Das, general secretary of Sarathi Socio Cultural Trust says:

"This is the 14th year of the Pujo. The cultural programme is spread across five days from October 6 to 10 known as Sammad.

On October 6, there will be contemporary and retro music by the band Kohal. On October 7, the Pujo will be inaugurated by Panduranga Setty, Chairman of RV Groups of Institutions. On October 8, there will be a cultural evening by Sa Re Ga Ma artistes. On October 9, there will be a performance by Anwesha and a Bollywood theme based song-n-dance show: Jhankar Beats. And on October 10, there will be surprise event featuring a Bollywood attraction. "Apart from that we'll be having various competitive events for the youth like Bandimonium - a band competition, Antakshari , Boogey Woogey etc. in the afternoons from October 8 to 10,” adds Sudipto.

A taste of Bengal

This association is known for its vibrant celebrations at Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, on 80 Ft Road, Koramangala. The five-day extravaganza is called Sammad with the theme for this year being Bibidher ajhe milan mohan, which means unity in diversity.

Cultural programs, organised by this association includes Ash King (Bollywood singer), events like antakshari, recitation and drawing competitions to encourage the youth. For food, one can look forward to the Bengali fish fry, mishti doi or even some Chinese and Mughlai cuisine with pizzas and rolls. Chant 'Ma Kali' this Diwali

"Earlier all the Bengalis of this city had to travel all the way to Ulsoor for Kali puja. So, we decided to conduct a puja in Koramangala itself. We formed an association, 'Sarathi Socio Cultural Trust' and started celebrating Kali puja besides the usual Durga puja,” said Sudipto Das, member of Sarathi socio-cultural Trust of Koramangala. Nowadays, even the non-bengalis have joined in this celebration. Says Saurav Mathur,, a resident of Sarjapur road, "I was associated with a group which used to organise Durga puja. Since then, I have been heavily influenced with all these pujas.”

Lakshmi smile on Durga Puja - Hint of revival from crisis in bangalore festivities

"If (the) IT (sector) as such doesn’t pick up, it’s very tough for events to happen in Bangalore,” said Sudipto Das, who handles cultural events at the Sarathi Socio-Cultural Trust, which organises the Puja at Koramangala, a locality home to many IT firms and professionals. "Finance is tough this year also,” said Das, adding that the number of small sponsors "has reduced a lot”. The Koramangala puja, which sees at least 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh visitors over the four days, will spend around Rs 18-19 lakh as against Rs 22 lakh last year in an attempt to optimise costs, he said.
